5 Factors to know when you ask When is it time to go - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 5 Factors to know when you ask “When is it time to go - Introvert Whisperer 5 Factors to know when you ask “When is it time to go? If you’re sitting in your office bored, ticked off or feeling down you may be thinking it’s time to go.   BUT, you’re not sure.   You are rationalizing staying because there is one more great thing you can contribute or you feel obligated in some way.   We all go through this kind of mental tug-of-war at one time or another.   Knowing when it’s the right time to give yourself permission to move on is one of those big life changers and with it comes anxiety. There are some indicators of satisfaction that you can examine that will help you make that decision. Let’s review some of them to help you move that decision making along. Salary â€" I’m almost embarrassed to mention money. Not because “it shouldn’t matter”, it’s because I know it isn’t one of the top 3 issues. I mention it first because everyone does and I want to get it out of the way. What you are paid as it turns out are not the top 3-5 satisfiers for your career.   It is something, however. If it is out of line or doesn’t pay the bills it is a big DISsatisfier and you do need to move on.   If your pay is appropriate for the job you do, area you live in and meets most of your need, then you’re probably doing fine and this isn’t a big enough deal to make you leave. Boss â€" This one is the big one. The person that you immediately report to is the number one top item that will make work life great or bad. You don’t have to love this person or even be buddies but you do need to respect this person and feel that it’s mutual.   Also, you need to be realistic about this person.   Bosses will never be perfect.   They are like the rest of us; they have bad hair days and also have their own quirks.   The question you need to ask yourself is: “Can I be successful doing work with this person in the picture?” Job Content â€" This is all about the kind of work you perform. You need to feel like you have the skills, talents, and background to perform the job. At the same time, you should feel like you can make a contribution and grow.   Job growth is not necessarily about being promoted.   It is learning new tasks, taking on new responsibilities and making new contributions.   The content of your job should be something that continuously stimulates and interests you.   If you have reached a point where everything is pretty much the same, you need to move on before it impacts your self-esteem. Work environment â€" This is both the physical space you do the work in and what is in the environment such as people, building and location. You can have a great job, great boss but have to commute 2 hours each way. Your life is potentially impacted too significantly. You may like the job but the environment you are in is too toxic because of interoffice relations.   The people you work with could be your source of dissatisfaction and you may not even realize it.   We form friendships and alliances with the people we spend so much time working with.   At the same time they may feel freedom in complaining and pointing out all the things that are bad.   This will have a negative impact on you.   You need to examine this situation and determine what you can control and what you can’t.   At the same time, you need to determine if you were to design the perfect work environment, would it be like this? Something else â€" If all the stars are aligned and the items listed above are all working well enough for you, you may be tugged by “something else”. The something else could be a lifelong dream of being a nurse or something completely different than what you’re doing today. The something else could be a deep desire to move and live somewhere other than where you are today.   It’s ok to give yourself permission to move toward something as opposed to away from your current career.   This category of “something else” may turn out to be your calling Life is too short to spend too much time working at a job situation you don’t love and doesn’t nurture your soul.   Your career should feel shamefully fun and more like an avocation.   Making a decision like this can be tough but it is not a sign that you’re doing the wrong thing.   It’s tough because it is a big part of how you spend your life.   It’s tough because you want to make sure you enjoy the next thing.   It’s tough because it’s a change. Professional Email Communication Tips

Professional Email Communication Tips pexels.com Use a formal tone. You typically email a professor or supervisor when you need help with something. As in, they are going out of their way to assist you, which means you must be nice. Or if anything, they are asking you a question which in return still means formality is necessary. The reason being formal or professional is best is because these are physical, written documents which basically means they are essentially always out there existing. So the last thing you would want to do is be a) inappropriate, or b) rude. That would not be a fun situation to explain to your college dean or boss. The true definition of formal is, being done in accordance with rules of convention or etiquette, according to Google of course. So in layman’s terms, it is being official. It is important to keep this is mind given they are technically still your superior, which entails them obtaining power and calling your shots. So yeah, be somewhat nice to these very capable people. Keep your focus. If you are sending an email to a professor or someone who has authority, then there must be a reason for the communication in the first place. Have intent. The worst thing would be to send an email with zero purpose. That is bothersome and blatantly annoying. This should be pretty easy to abide by given you should be aware of why you are going out of your way to talk to them. Common sense, right? Well, it may be harder in the situation when you are uncertain of how to phrase a question or how to sign off on the email. There are also certain words or sayings that you should make sure to steer clear of because you may potentially cross a line, which is not good. You would not want to accidentally or intentionally flirt with your supervisor. It is not professional or really appropriate. If you cannot help the love from spreading, then wait until you are out of the class or job, which is an entire different article in itself. So yeah, keep focused. Proofread. Okay, so this seems completely obvious and expected, yet many have yet to come on board. Sad, I know. Proofreading is everything, and without it, you most likely will not be receiving an email response. And if you do, it may not be polite and not what you exactly had in mind. So save yourself some trouble and edit yourself, people. This is a major tip because it helps you out in all aspects of life, really. Communication has separate tones and knowing which one to use for a specific situation is half the battle. Once you figure out what it is you want to say, you have to be able to articulately phrase the question, which is where many get confused. But you will stay on the right path from now on because I have faith in you. You can think of it this way: would you send a finalized draft of a paper sans rereading and editing it? Well, I would hope not. You want to be able to show your supervisor or professor that you are fully adept to being serious and can handle maturity. It may seem highly ridiculous but it truly is necessary. You shall see. There are numerous tips that you can apply to your emailing career, but there a few that deserve your utmost attention. They are the ones that will get you far in life, but really, will assist you in being perceived as a real professional and able to handle sophisticated situations. At least, that is what we hope for. Emailing can be tough given you are not always completely sure of how to state something, especially when it is with someone you usually talk to in person. But hey, communication is vital and in order to write effectively, you need to know which proper inflection to use. So get to writing/emailing, kids.

While that’s all well and good, we have to admit that one person’s best isnt the s ame as another’s. In other words, one size does  not  fit all. There are four common types of learners: visual, auditory, kinesthetic and reading-/writing-based learners.Visual learners do best when they can see what’s being taught.Auditory learners learn best by listening to their studies.Kinesthetic learners are the hands-on type; they learn best by doing.Reading/writing learners enjoy learning from textbooks, workbooks or other written communication. Many of us lean toward being one kind of learner but most are a combination of more than one type. Its a good idea to identify your learning style so you can choose the best learning website for you.The good news is that with so many options to choose from, there’s an excellent fit for every learner. How to Choose Your Personal “Best”Once you’ve determined your learning style, look for a website that fulfills your individual needs.Visual learners: Charts, diagrams, pictures and videos will suit you well.Auditory learners:  T ry some podcasts or look for websites with lots of listening practice options.Kinesthetic learners: Choose a website with short lessons and options that allow for movement or interaction. Feed that love of reading  or writing to power up language learning.Things Every Site Should OfferNo matter what your style of learning is, every site  should provide the basics of language learning. We all start this language journey as a beginning learner, so there should be material to get anyone on the path.Content matters. It should be engaging and diverse. Learners should look forward to a language program; providing interesting options with lots of choices invites enthusiasm.Language learning is in large part about listening, so ideally, a language-learning site should have a listening component. Listening practice helps lea rners study new vocabulary, idioms and conversational phrases.Writing and reading practice lessons that feature vocabulary and grammar are also beneficial. Look for a site that can provide for this need. Finally, a website should give learners an opportunity to practice  speaking. No more trying to remember what material you’ve already completed!Something worth noting is that the programs audio option is computer-generated, so its not recommended that you model pronunciation after it. In fact, the computer apparently cant properly process some languages, like Japanese, so the audio comes out in a nonsensical jumble. Auditory learners might want to look elsewhere!Clozemaster is more of a  game-oriented “add-on” to a language program rather than a central program. Dealing with Unreliable Internship Supervisors

Dealing with Unreliable Internship Supervisors Image via Pixabay Let’s imagine you’re a junior in college and you go in to interview for an internship position.  You like the company and feel like the perfect fit for fulfilling the job requirements. The supervisor who conducts the interview will also be the one overseeing your daily work progress and offering feedback on your performance. He seems cool, even nice to work with. So, you’re excited and your experience starts out great. Then, three weeks into it, you realize your new boss isn’t exactly your idea of what a boss should be. He isn’t reliable or fair, forgets important things about projects, and generally gives poor supervision. Suddenly, you have an overwhelming what-the-heck-did-I-get-myself-into situation on your hands (Think “Horrible Bosses”). If it’s any comfort, you aren’t the only one who has to deal with an unreliable or downright terrible boss. Bad bosses exist at every level of every organization. Whether you’re an intern, part-time or full-time employee, or a veteran of the work world, you will encounter a not-so-great supervisor at one point or another in your career. It’s better to know how to deal with one now than trying to navigate that icky situation later. It is important to know that being able to rely on your supervisor is crucial to your success as an intern. This doesn’t give you permission to not do your job or voice your opinion when you see a problem or a better way to go about doing something. But reliability means you can count on your supervisor to be there for you, guide you through this new phase of your life, and provide feedback to help you improve. As an intern, your perception of the reliability of your supervisor will affect your performance. So, here are some ways to deal with unreliable internship supervisors. Be on time or ahead of time on everything When you’re motivated to learn and get lots of stuff done in a reasonably short span of time, dealing with unreliable supervisors can be frustrating. One way to counter this is to be on time or ahead of time about projects you are given as much as possible. Try to anticipate things that need to be done and if it is in your power to do them, by all means, get them done. Be an example of reliability It’s a bit hard to expect reliability in others if you aren’t reliable yourself. It’s like standing in a glass house and throwing stones. For whatever reason your supervisor is disorganized poor time management skills, too many things on his plate, or just out of sync with his responsibilities if you can be depended on to get things done and keep your word, your supervisor will recognize that and want to engage you on more projects even if he doesn’t understand the reason. Develop your own personal power As an intern, you don’t have the positional power to tell your supervisor what to do, or in many cases, give them the ’suggestion as command’ kind of talk. What you do have is the opportunity to develop your own personal power. This means you can take this opportunity to increase your competence, strength, and confidence that will give you the courage to help change the situation or at least open up the door for the  realization that a problem exists. Try to help wherever and whenever you can It is very important that you don’t try to force or coerce someone to change through shame, guilt, or some other emotion. Doing this could damage your relationship with your supervisor and hinder you from getting that much-needed reference letter for a real job. Instead, offer to help when you see your supervisor has gotten behind or is otherwise disorganized. Be polite, respectful, and energetic while being assertive about moving a  project forward whether they deliver on their part or not. Set a default into requests you make of your supervisor This can be a bit difficult since you’re supposed to be learning and the supervisor is for the most part supposed to be giving feedback and making the decisions. However, if your supervisor isn’t doing that, be sure to set a default into every request. This means even if they don’t respond to your email within 48 hours or they don’t get you necessary information or documents to finish your job, you can still get your work done effectively and efficiently. Talk it out Some supervisors have been unreliable for so long that they probably don’t even realize it. Still, others are very good at something else in their personal or professional lives, that no one will dare call them out on their unreliability. But if your supervisor can’t be depended on, try to let them know how you feel about it and/or how it is affecting you by asking for a brief meeting to talk about it. And if you’re granted such a meeting, be respectful. Lay out your concerns, but don’t be condescending or judgmental.

Organic Chemistry - What is it?

Organic Chemistry - What is it?Organic chemistry requires a serious commitment on the part of the student. This type of science provides the student with a very exciting and fun environment, since he or she can choose from a number of interesting topics to learn. Although not all subjects may be taught in the same way, you will find that many of them do contain interesting scientific theories and laws that the student should be able to remember and understand. Therefore, while deciding on the course that is right for you, make sure that you don't take any courses at school that are too hard for you. When studying chemistry, students will be studying chemical elements that are at the basis of all biological processes. Inorganic and organic chemistry also includes chemical reactions that are used to create materials or chemicals. There are also other topics that the student should be aware of.Theories about such basic chemical elements include the elements silicon, oxygen, potassium, so dium, calcium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, nitrogen, chlorine, bromine, chlorine, carbon dioxide, oxygen, hydrogen, beryllium, silicon, mercury, aluminum, neon, phosphorus, chlorine dioxide, fluorine, potassium hydroxide, iodine, ammonia, potassium phosphate, boron, and barium. These theories and laws are very important in organic chemistry, as they govern the properties of the elements and the things that they form. Students who study chemistry at the college level will need to learn how these elements are combined, because this helps them understand the relationship between the properties of the elements and their molecular structures. Inorganic chemistry also contains the properties of the compounds that are formed by combining these elements.Students in organic chemistry must be knowledgeable of these properties if they want to know how all the components of life work together. Such knowledge helps students to understand the various ways in which the different materials can be asse mbled into various complex organisms. When it comes to any type of chemistry, it is very important to have an understanding of the properties that occur inevery substance that can be created.Students who are not familiar with these concepts may feel somewhat overwhelmed as they learn how these chemical elements affect each other. One way to ease the effects of the elements is to study various compounds made with certain elements. For example, a student who know that chlorine is poisonous, but wants to make it into an additive that is used to treat water, will study the properties of some of the different compounds that are created when chlorine is mixed with organic compounds. Understanding the different properties of these compounds helps the student better understand how the elements combine and work together.Of course, a student who wants to know how all the chemical components in the food we eat must also know how they combine together to create substances such as proteins, suga rs, fats, and other compounds that we need to survive. Organic chemistry also includes the different types of food that we eat, including meat, milk, vegetables, fruits, and the various nuts and seeds that we find in our daily diets.Organic chemistry has a wide variety of theories that are very important for the student. While some are rather basic, such as how different substances react when they come into contact with one another, many others are more involved. Most science teachers are willing to help students learn about these important principles. A student can usually find online classes that include organic chemistry as one of the classes that they can take.
